Kitchenette features stone fireplace, stove, sink, coffee maker and small table and chair. Upper loft features skylight, bed and lamp.
Set includes 4 minifigures with accessories: pet shop owner, girl on bicycle, painter with paint roller and woman. At that point it was mostly different castles. They have a wonderful time building and playing together. It’s aimed at children much older than 7, but it was perfect for the two of them. She got several smaller sets, too, some that she could do by herself. These kits take a lot of time and focus, (warning the bags are not labeled and sorted by section) you have to figure it out on your own.
You need lots of room to spread out and sort parts, my granddaughter is 8 and she used paper plate to sort all the parts first. Once a kit goes out of production the price shoots up 2x, 3x sometimes 10 times as much. If you don’t use, you wont have any problem selling it later if you don’t use it. The rest were in chunks that took me a couple of hours to disassemble.
Lego Pet Shop Modular Building Retired Set 10218!
Speed Build & Review!
With pieces fallen off of the assembled parts they must be disassembled also. It’s almost impossible to see what’s missing if you don’t start from the ground up. Who knows if all the other pieces are there. It’s quiet, we spend time together, and we talk. Both buildings in this set add up to a very nice block.
I really love the blue color of the pet shop’s walls.
I would love to see another set that takes a similar idea to this two-building set and expands the modular street a bit further. But for now, this is entirely worth the price. The simplistic yet modern feel to the look and the small details are amazing. It took a good two days to put together (each one takes about a good 2-3 hrs to do).
I wouldn’t wait as this set will likely be retiring soon. This is my second modular and will continue to get more as they come out. The pet shop building is the shining star in this set as more detail is involved there. The brownstone is nice, but since it is really empty, due to remodeling/painting, the building is more aesthetically pleasing than having any real play value.
I might look for some unique micro builds to fill the brownstone. The most obvious feature of the set is that it is split into two buildings on two 16×32 stud baseplates. This makes the buildings extremely versatile; you can put them next to each other in two ways, and you can also mix them in between other buildings. Also, if your display-space is a bit short, you might still be able to squeeze in one half next to the other sets that are all on 32×32 baseplates. In other words, if you get multiple sets you can put several of the apartment side of the buildings next to each other to make a row of apartments, and you can also duplicate the pet shop side to create a row of small stores.
I have also seen people rebuilding both sides on a full 32×32 baseplate, thus making both buildings wider. While others add an additional second story to make the buildings taller. And you can also rebuild both buildings in different colors (the sand-blue side of the buildings looks particularly nice in sand-green). And the little split-story apartment above the pet shop is absolutely lovely. The other side with the big three-story apartment is originally quite bare, with just a couch, small tables, moving boxes and a minifig painting the walls – all indicating a family just moving in.
LEGO Creator Pet Shop 10218
It is truly the most adaptable of the entire collection. Going back to how this set is rumored to be retired soon, if you have ever considered getting it, please don’t wait. Although the listing says it will ship in 30 days, in my experience out of stock items ship much-much faster than that. There is a limit of five sets per household, so you have the option to get extra ones for customizing and expanding, like we talked about before. Are you planning to get just one, or get some extras as well?
My suggestion is to stick with the ones you really like, and just skip the ones you don’t. Including some very obscure and really rare ones. Bought and built this set last year- loved it. About three weeks ago ordered two more and they just shipped. The website is still showing them on backorder but like you said you can still order them. If you are interested in this set and you are planning to get it later in the year, please don’t wait.
Lego 10218 Retired
Luckily there would be three more to choose from if this one retires. It has a nicer exterior as well as a nicer interior, and has all 3 stories fully built to perfection. Maybe you guys can get it shipped from here?
Then she saw on the back of the box of one of the sets in store that it showed some buildings that had been retired already. Once you catch up with the older sets that you and your wife likes, it will be easy to maintain. So far the pattern has been that each modular is around for four years. It is a really nice set as well, but it does have a different style – although looks perfectly fine next to the other modulars.
You really can’t go wrong with any of the sets in this series.
LEGO Creator Pet Shop Close To Retiring
Again, once you catch up with previously released sets, it will be much easier to maintain your collection, if you choose to add more buildings. However once a set is retired, it immediately doubles, triples or even more on the secondary market. So always buy the ones you like while they are still around. They have said pet shop and persian resturant still have a two year running life and apparenyly they have a lot of stock so don’t panic. If the set stays around longer there is no harm to get it now, and if it suddenly gets pulled from the market like previous ones did, then you will be glad you got it already.
I really like the blue side of the building. Then there is also the year-end clearance.
I have been thinking about also making a sand-green version, and sand-red would be nice too.
I loved the great detailing, the building experience, and how substantial and beautiful the set looked. This set was released in 2011, so yeah, it is well pasts due the normal retirement schedule. The manual shows railings with only two pegs on the top, with a flat middle.I also bought mine later, not when the set was originally released. The fence pieces with the two studs on top were retired in 2014, and replaced with the fence pieces with four studs. So in later production sets, you will get both the white and black fences with four studs. For example several of the modulars have both versions of the 1×2 jumper plate, because they transitioned from the old kind (without groove) to the new kind (with groove), so many sets during the transition years have both. It is a very nice build, and it is the only set with two separate buildings, which makes it very versatile as far as the layout.
You won’t be disappointed with any of them, and again, if you intend to own them all it is best to give priority to the older ones to make sure you don’t miss out.
Lego Pet Shop () From Lego Modular Retiring Soon!!!
Prices on all the modulars shot up as soon as they get retired. But if you are into racecars it can be a good choice.
I would still pick up the older modulars first. Does this mean it’s now gone, or when will it come back?
What we really have to worry about is when they say “sold out”.
I wanted to know your thoughts on this, like which set’s better, what’s more likely to retire, etc. While it looks great on display, it is also minifig scale, so it is excellent for play as well. They are also both older sets that should be retiring in the near future. It is unique in that it is actually two smaller buildings, a townhouse and a pet shop with loft, that can be separated from each other. The size of this unique set and its short life caused its post-retirement value to skyrocket very quickly. Other features of note include a revolving door, sizeable chandelier, and a large rooftop billboard. The building itself is detailed with red and grey brick architecture, and features a garage for the fire engine, fireman’s pole, and rooftop bell. Nonetheless, the rarity of this second entry in the modulars line has made it very valuable.Creator expert sets are highly collectible and desirable, and nobody wants to miss out on one because prices for these sets have historically skyrocketed immediately after retirement. Let’s look at what has happened in the recent past with modular buildings. After it officially retires it will get a slight increase in price value, but it won’t get a big increase for possibly the first 2 years after retirement. There is not an expected ship date like other out of stock items. However, any time an older set starts to go out of stock at multiple retailers, that can indicate the first step towards retirement. Pet shop has been around for over 5 years, old. It’ll see a nice higher growth rate then pet shop, piece count.
You just read something from a slightly tipsy single college kid, diffidently not an english major, or even a college kid?
On a more serious note, everyone has their ideas or theories about which set to buy now or later. The most important thing about all this lego buying and selling is that money you invest is like money you would set on fire or flush down the toilet. Box condition isn’t horrible but if you are a collector, you may not be happy with box condition even though it is sealed. Can be shipped but additional cost for. .. Please check my other ads for other awesome lego deals!
Pickup can be arranged at a location convenient to both parties. The pet shop comes with a menagerie of pets and accessories, and the townhouse is detailed and tasteful. For the price, this set is well worth it. Buy now if you can as the modular buildings don’t last long and they increase rapidly in price once discontinued. It looks beautiful displayed on my shelf!
My son has always wanted to build this set he is super excited!
